Save it from the app first
Open your own post, tap Share, and choose Save video. That puts a copy on your phone immediately, with no tool involved.
The file the app saves is watermarked. That is the app being helpful rather than restrictive — the mark discourages reposting without credit. It is a normal outcome, not a fault.
When a separate download helps
The app copy is compressed for sharing, and it carries the mark. A download gets the underlying file the platform stores, which is what you want when:
- You are editing the video again and need the cleanest available source.
- You are archiving your own work somewhere the app cannot reach.
- You want to keep the original audio on its own for a soundtrack or voiceover edit.
Using the downloader
Share the post in the app, tap Copy link, and paste it into the TikTok Video Downloader. The short vm.tiktok.com link is expanded automatically.
The file that comes back is the H.264 rendition TikTok published, which does not carry the in-app mark — so there is nothing to remove. Video is copied rather than re-encoded where possible.
For an audio-only edit, the audio option returns the post’s own soundtrack as an M4A.
Limits worth knowing
A few things will not work, and none of them are tool limitations.
- Private accounts and friends-only posts cannot be read at all.
- Short share links expire. If one stops working, share the post again for a fresh link.
- Most posts are published at a single resolution, so there may be only one quality to pick.
Common questions
Does downloading my own TikTok remove the watermark?
There is no watermark on the file a download returns, because that file comes from TikTok’s own media servers rather than from the in-app save. The app’s own save is watermarked by design; the download is a different file.
Is it allowed to download your own TikToks?
Yes, when the account is yours. Reposting someone else’s clip is a different question and a copyright matter regardless of how the file was obtained.
Why is my short link not working?
vm.tiktok.com and vt.tiktok.com links stop resolving after a while, and an expired one redirects to the TikTok homepage instead of the video. Share the post again to get a fresh link.
